The iKapa Dance Theatre Youth Company is a semi-professional dance company for talented dancers between the ages of 14 and 23 years.

Established in January 2011,  the Youth Dance Theatre comprises of talented local dancers selected by audition from ballet and modern/contemporary dance studios in and around Cape Town.

The Youth Dance Theatre is an intensive training program for young dancers that are serious about following a career in dance. The Youth Dance Theatre expects dancers to be versatile in all iKapa’s dance styles such as Ballet, Contemporary and African. A variety of dance pieces by different choreographers as well as iKapa repertoire is taught.

These young dancers are given the opportunity to perform at various events. Opportunities will arise for the Youth Company to perform together with iKapa Dance Theatre’s company members.

The Youth Company is an important stepping stone for aspiring dancers wishing to be part of the professional company and once they reach the age of 18, youth company members can then move on to the Apprentice program, or even directly into an intern position if they show exceptional skill and dedication.
