Arts Township International launches the ‘Community Creative District’ in Gugulethu
Community Creative District in Gugulethu is a social tourism model that turns the community into a vibrant, productive creative hub of annual arts festivals, monthly craft and food markets and daily home gallery, tours that showcases what Gugulethu has to offer.
Embark on a cultural journey throughout our homes and spaces in the townships, experiencing arts, culture and the life and soul of the Community.
Imagine a township street that is vibrant and inviting with homes on either side open all year round to visitors as galleries, performance spaces, museums, home innovation laboratories and flowing with the sights, sounds and flavors’ of working people from the community, the city and further abroad exchanging stories and ideas, foods, training, history and culture.
After hosting successful Creative District in the last two months in Kayamandi (Stellenbosch) and Soweto (JHB) ATi is already in full swing pulling together final preparations for their latest venture in Gugulethu.
The Gugulethu Creative District is proudly launched through partnerships with, Maboneng Township Arts Experience, iKapa Dance Theatre and Home Innovation Labs.
You can expect to see local township homes turned into galleries, innovation and performance spaces.
Tour guides will escort you along a carefully mapped festival route, whilst local performance groups will showcase their latest artistic works.
