iKapa Director: A Young African Leader

On the 13 June 2014, Theo travelled to the United States to participate in the YALI Washington Fellowship. Amongst 500 young leaders, he will be trained and mentored for leadership.

As part of the 6-week Fellowship, Theo will have the opportunity to study at top US Universities, interact with President Obama at a Presidential Summit and meet with top US government leaders. He will then travel to New York where he will be working with Battery Dance Company to create new work that will be staged at the Downtown Dance Festival, August 2014.

Theo’s selection to be a part of the Young African Leaders Initiative is both a well deserved and an incredible accomplishment. A global acknowledgement of the dedication and tireless work Theo has already invested in the development of South Africa’s youth has come at the perfect time.

We look forward to Theo’s return as well as his enlightening experience.
